1. Of course, these statistics are swayed by the fact that a large fraction of Democrats think better of Germany than they do of their own country.

This may be the result of the long US military presence in Germany. Many Americans have been to Germany and know German ordinary citizens (as opposed to the intelligentsia/media types).

Every one in two Americans has a very positive image of the European country. And more than one-third categorize German-American relations as excellent or very good, with only four percent perceiving them as bad.
